Ardent and Montriond

Ardent - a magical alpine hamlet

A really truly magical alpine hamlet, nestled at the heart of Les Portes du Soleil, Ardent is the place to experience the beauty and tran-quillity of the mountains and pine forests. As if frozen in time, the farmhouses and chalets under their blanket of snow have been thoughtfully restored and constructed to blend with the beautiful landscape.

If the hustle and bustle of a busy resort is not for you then Ardent is perfection. The cable car, ski shop, La Chalande restaurant and L’Escapade bar are only minutes away from Chalet Grolets with a blue piste taking you back to the door. The cable car takes you to the sunny bowl at Les Lindarets with an excellent Ecole de ski Français, with English speaking instructors, offering a choice of group or private ski and snowboard lessons, a Kindergarten for the little ones and a choice of excellent bar/restaurants with sun terraces. From the bowl, chairlifts access Avoriaz, Chatel and the Swiss stations of Les Portes du Soleil.

L’Escapade bar is ideal for a drink at the end of the ski day or an apéritif before dinner while the children play in the snow, build snowmen toboggan or pound each other with snowballs. Later in the season, as the nights become lighter, there is a charming walk through the pine forest past the cascade, a magical waterfall fed by the mountain stream that runs through the hamlet, and on to the frozen mountain lake of Montriond where the bar restaurant Le Bout de Lac is a welcome resting place to absorb this spectacular panorama.
