MORZINE
The village lies at the heart of the Portes du Soleil with easy access to both the Pleney Les Gets pistes and Avoriaz, Chatel and the Swiss linked resorts of this vast ski area.

Morzine - view over the village

Morzine is a charming and lively resort steeped in history and traditional architecture, ideally situated just 1hr 15mins drive from Geneva airport, making this an excellent choice for the short break or adding an extra half-day on the slopes either end of the holiday.

Morzine - view over the village

Morzine is a traditional alpine village with brightly lit, bustling streets, a market atmosphere with rails of trendy to sophisticated ski, board and casual wear displayed before the shop fronts, alpine souvenirs, arts and crafts and all interspersed with pavement cafes, snack bars and a wonderful choice of restaurants. Each Wednesday there is a traditional market where you can choose from regional cheeses, varied saucisson or just soak up the atmosphere.

For apres skiers there is plenty going on; a choice of cinemas show English films or you can watch that all important match on the big screen at the Ridge Bar or Dixie bar or enjoy a game of pool. Check out the music in the Buddha or Cavern bar and, if at 2 am, you are still up for a dance then the Opera Rock or the Paradis’ doors are open to you.

Morzine at night

Take a break from the piste to experience the beauty of you surroundings from a horse drawn sleigh or, for the more adventurous, take a helicopter ride or parapent from the mountain side, gliding over the village to the nursery slopes (safely harnessed to an instructor). Hotel pools are open to outsiders, with the purchase of a drink, and there is a well-equipped fitness centre, adjoining the indoor ice-rink where all ages can rediscover the art of ice skating or watch the weekly, exciting hockey matches. There are regular skiing and snowboarding displays on the flood-lit Pleney slopes.

During your week you will have the opportunity to ski by floodlight. We can also arrange a torchlit descent after a traditional meal on the mountain top. Put away your skis and try a hair raising ride on a toboggan or explore the starlit mountains by skidoo. Would you like to try cross country skiing or climbing the peaks on raquettes? Discuss these possibilities with your group and notify The Chalet Company office so that everything can be organised for you.
